ASEPCO’s PTFE Diaphragms

Introducing Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) diaphragms in our exceptional Radial-Diaphragm™ Valve design!

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a thermoplastic resin that is practically resistant to all fluids. Of all our diaphragm materials, it is the most chemically resistant.
PTFE is non-elastic, limiting its use in certain applications. PTFE can be used with media reaching very high temperatures up to 260° Celsius.

Currently, PTFE is only available for ASEPCO’s tank valves.

To get specific chemical compatibility information about PTFE, we suggest that you refer to the Cole-Parmer Chemical Compatibility Database.

To get more information about PTFE, look at some of the suggested resources on the Datasheet & Resources tab.

Benefits of this material:
Extremely chemically resistant—often used with heptane and methyl chloride
Extremely heat resistant (recommended for 39 to 500°F / 4 to 260°C)
Extremely steam resistant
Weaknesses of this material:

Not really an elastomer—it has cold flow issues that can result in leaking
It is expensive
It is harder to work with during maintenance

Features & Benefits

All diaphragms meet USP VI standards and are FDA CFR 177.2600 compliant
Meets the standards for quality, purity, lack of toxicity, strength, and consistency
Two seals formed with valve body
Suitable for biomedical/pharma applications
Minimizes contamination and dead legs

Specifications

ASEPCO provides diaphragms created with a number of different materials. The materials vary with respect to heat-resistance, chemical-resistance, and durability. The table below shows basic compatibility information. Please do not use this information as your sole method for determining whether an elastomer is right for your specific process. Before using any elastomer in a process you should verify its compatibility with an elastomer expert.
